My Live Interview on CHIU-Stream!

Wed Oct 21, 2009, 2:39 PM
Hey guys!

Here’s the pre-recorded video from my live interview on CHIU-Stream with fellow artist Bobby Chiu! This was my first interview of it’s kind but I definitely had a lot of fun interacting with the live chat and viewers from across the globe! At first I was quite nervous when the interview began but as soon as I started to get more comfortable, time just flew! Kudos to those who attended the show and made their support felt during the interview, hope to do it again soon possibly with some live sketching involved!

In 1997, Alvin Lee began his comic book career at the age of 17, eventually maturing into a renowned veteran of the industry. Alvin is one of the few North American born comic book artists still presently involved in the anime/manga movement. He has worked with several comic book publishers including Image Comics, DC/Wildstorm, Dreamwave Productions, Udon Comics, and Marvel Comics. Some of these titles include Deadpool, Agent X, X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, Gen 13, Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes and most notably his revival of the Street Fighter comic book series. His talent has also led to the game art of two Capcom videogame titles, Capcom Fighting Jam and the re-release of Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix for the Xbox 360. Recently, Alvin has also taken an interest in educating, developing a tutorial DVD for Gnomon Workshop and launching an unprecedented, online comic book art course with Schoolism.com.

I'm sorry for disturb but i cannot stand to ask a question does you need any references to draw a good illustration or characters ?

drawing can be anything as long you draw happy :D

So, question. 168 hours in a week. To earn a somewhat comfy living as an illustrator, approximately how many hours of the 168 do you spend at the board? It isn't about the money, you understand. I've always told my friends that tell me to pursue art, that you have your nose to the table almost constantly. I suspect most artists don't make as much as the adoring public thinks they might.
Also, it's my feeling an artist needs continual growth and in a perpetual state of learning. At the level you're at currently, do you find it difficult to learn new tricks? And who do you go to for inspirado?
Thanks in advance.

Heya
I've just submitted my last 9th assignment of schoolism self taught class, and i want to really apologize for taking more than 3 weeks to finish it. (I was sick and still am)

I would just like to tell you that your class completely blew my mind. It's simply amazing how much i've learned from it and i thank you for making it!
My regret is only that i didn't get the chance to see your critique on the things i could have improved.

I hope you come up with more things to teach (like how to improve your guesswork), as i would without doubt buy any extra classes you make.

Thank you again for all that you have thought me, and i wish you luck in your face melting career!
:iconmyabuttreeks:
me again, in case you haven't noticed i'm a fan/developing artist. during your comic career do you ever look at past works (recent/early) and say to yourself "eeew thats awful/ i wish i could change that". of course i think your art is perfect!
